The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development plays a crucial role in regulating Nigeria’s aviation industry. It is responsible for overseeing the nation’s aviation policies, ensuring safe and efficient air transport, and developing airport infrastructure. The Ministry also coordinates the regulation of airlines and promotes international cooperation in aviation matters. As part of its mandate, the Ministry supports the growth of the aviation sector by managing air transportation services, ensuring safety protocols, and providing essential aviation infrastructure across the country.

The Ministry is led by a Minister, currently Festus Keyamo, SAN, who was appointed in 2023. The Minister works alongside a Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, who manages the day-to-day operations of the Ministry. Together, they ensure the Ministry achieves its objectives of modernizing Nigeria’s aviation sector and improving infrastructure.

The Ministry has several key departments, such as Air Transport Management, Air Safety Administration, and Aerodrome Development, which handle specific aspects of aviation management. Additionally, it oversees important agencies like the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

For anyone visiting Abuja, the Ministry is located at the Federal Secretariat Complex Phase 1. It continues to drive efforts toward enhancing air travel safety and expanding Nigeria’s role in the global aerospace sector.
